I wasn't sure specifically who to contact about this or where to post. If someone could further direct me, that would be wonderful.

Recently I've been getting tons of recommendations for books by one Robert Stanek, including The Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches, Journey Beyond the Beyond (what's up with THAT touchstone?), In the Service of Dragons, and The Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches II, all made by an anonymous member—presumably the author himself, or someone connected with him.

This is rather silly and underhanded. Moreover, it is against the guidelines for member recommendations. Can staff "see" anonymous members, and which of the staff members should I contact about this?

I would just contact Tim. It might be Jeremy handling these things now, but I'm not quite sure, and anyway Tim will presumably pass it on. I'm pretty sure staff can indeed see who made the recommendation.

In addition to the anonymous recommendations you mention, there seems to be a concerted effort by several very new accounts to recommend this author's works, and to rate them highly. I don't know if it's sock-puppetry or just someone who's explicitly asked a bunch of people to do this, but either way it's stacking the deck unfairly for promotion.

Just look at how many of the people who have this author listed as favorites are new accounts, and accounts that have been very active with rating and recommending his books. See member favorites on the author page:

BTW, I posted a note about it on the latest spam reporting thread:

I'd still contact one of the staff if I were you, but putting a report there too might also help get the right person's attention.
